Amazing Generosity!

I wanted to share my sincere thank you to the many individuals and community organizations that donated their time, services and money to help brighten the holidays for so many of our EHS and EJHS students.  Our community has supported our Escanaba students for many years, but this year it truly feels like they have gone above and beyond.  Here are just a few of the many special events that have brightened the lives of our students and staff this week:

*  170 Christmas Food boxes donated through a grant from the Community Foundation for children around the district.  Thank you!

*  Cost Cutters employees generously performed 50 haircuts for some of our students while they enjoyed a "spa" day with our teacher consultant, Mrs. Aiken.  You ladies are wonderful!

*  $2500 donated to our "Christmas Kids" program.  This will provide gift cards to over 100 EHS & EJHS students as Christmas gifts.  We can't express our thanks enough!

*  An anonymous donor paid almost $900 in lunch charges for students in need.  Thank you!

*  Our Key Club Santa & Elves traveled to various sites to make the holidays brighter for young children in our community.

*  Over 1000 canned food items donated by our students to the Salvation Army.

*  Many of our EHS students were ringing Salvation Army bells throughout the holiday season.

*  Several anonymous donors "adopted" EHS/EJHS families to bring Christmas to them.  Thank you!

*  Cookies shared with our staff from a local church.  Thank you!

*  Our EHS/EJHS Orchestra Chamber group performed for us on several mornings this week as we entered school.  What a beautiful sound as you walk in the door in the morning!

*  Our Staff Jazz Ensemble shared their talents with our students during lunch on the last day of school before the holiday break.  It's great to see the students enjoying good quality music performed by their own teachers.

*  The list could go on and on......

All I can say is - Wow!  Thank you to everyone who makes the holidays a special time for our students and staff.  We can feel your love and support around us as we head into this special time of the year.

Listen & Learn Community Meeting

Dr. Coby Fletcher will be hosting a Listen & Learn Community Meeting in the EHS Library on Thurs., October 5th at 6pm.  This is a great opportunity for all to share ideas, thoughts and needs.  This will help us in planning the future of the Escanaba Schools.  Please plan to join us for an evening of sharing.

Senior Parent Meeting/ Project Graduation

EHS Seniors & Parents,
We will be hosting an informational night on Wednesday, Oct. 18th beginning at 5:30pm in the EHS Library.  If you have questions about what to expect this year with your senior, such as when to apply for college, how to complete your FAFSA form, and how or when to visit colleges, then plan to attend and bring your questions with you to get answers.

Immediately following the Senior Informational meeting, we will jump right into the kickoff meeting of our "Project Graduation" group.  All Senior parents are needed for this one!  This group will be planning the All Night Party for the graduating seniors on the night of graduation here at EHS.  Parents will be needed to lead such things as the prize committee, the fundraiser pasty sale, arranging for food, decorations, games and much more.  Please plan to join in this planning meeting and watch for Project Grad meetings throughout the school year.  Mark your calendars to help work the pasty sale, which is the sole fundraiser for the all night party.  Everyone's help is needed.  It will be held the weekend of January19th, 2018.

Hope to see you there!
